Old man winter, where have you Been???

Its going to feel like January out there. A quick moving storm system will move south of the region giving parts of the south shore, cape and Islands a moderate snowfall with 3-6 inches. with 1-3 south of the pike. There will be a sharp cut-off especially in southeast mass/cape cod canal.  The weekend looks cold as an area of high pressure takes full control of the region behind the low-pressure system Friday. Highs will struggle in the low 20s with lows in the single digits. Wind chill could be sub-zero especially on Saturday.  Then another low-pressure system could affect the region Tuesday/Wednesday of next week. This storm is still in the air but models are showing a relative agreement at the moment of a decent snowstorm. The reasoning I am not so confident on this storm is because the pieces to help form the storm are still over the Pacific ocean.

3 pieces to look at . 2 in the pacific south of Alaska, with one just reaching Mexico.

Then area one books it across and moves to the Atlantic coast with area 3 possibly affecting energy piece 1 slowing it down making it easier for piece number two to meet up and shift its energy to area 1. .

Different scenerios.

  1. Storm hugs coast gives more rain/ snow line issues. Heavier wet snow
  2. storm is around bench mark gives region good snow storm fluffier snow (not as common this time of year)
  3. pieces do not meet up and we have one piece affecting us with a weaker system
  4. the merging happens to far south or North.

There are too many pieces that are off the pacific coast to be confident on anything past Sunday.  Once we get to Saturday/Sunday then start paying close attention to the Tuesday/Wednesday time frame.
