The national weather service in taunton has issued a winter storm warning until 1am tonight. for central and northeast massachusetts to southwest New hampshire.
Road conditions for the evening commute will be impacted greatly as well as the afternoon commute. Snowfall rates could reach 1 to 3 inches per hour. In general I am thinking a 4-8 inches in the light blue area but some areas expecially northeast massachusetts up into coastal New hampshire could see up to 12 inches. A difference of a few miles can mean the difference of 4 inches to 12 inches. Just the natrue of this kind of storm system set up. Also do not be surprised to hear thunder. secondary roads are already getting snow covered be safe, Also the salt that they use generally work good when its over 25 not when its around 10 degrees so even with treated surfaces do not think its 100% ice free. a warm up and possible rain event for the weekend could cut a huge amount of the snow pack down over the weekend. i think anyone outside of 495 is safe to have a white christmas areas inside of i95 look at it while you can.
