First regional winter weather event of the season.

An area of low pressure coming in from the Ohio valley and Great lakes will start to spread snow across the area tonight  The earlier this starts the higher the snow totals. Precipitation will change over to plain rain in the early morning for most areas along and east of I95. Mid to late morning a mix of rain and snow for anyone inside of 495 and south of rt2. Most snow accumulation in this area will happen after midnight into the earlier parts of the morning commute. Areas North of Rt2 in Central mass into the berks up into VT and NH will see 4 to 8 inches of snow with sleet mixing in especially in the valley location. Precipitation should end from southwest to Northeast ( Maps Below. Left and Center are snow maps. Map on the right are what road conditions are expected to be, please look at  the watches/warnings and scales on the icon above. Another update later today/evening after the afternoon/early evening model runs.

After Monday an area of high pressure will take control for Tuesday and Tuesday night as a system travels well to the North and another well to the south. These will merge North of the region allowing for the coldest temperatures of the season (colder than today) by end of the week. Another system looks to take aim at the region for the weekend. At this time, it looks to be taking a warmer track to the west. I am not expecting much in the way of snow but we could have an Ice issue with the cold that is left from the arctic blast from the days before.
