This break does not look like it will stay. An area of low pressure will give the region periods of rain tonight, Up to a quarter of an inch of rain could fall furthering the melting. some sleet and snow could mix in with the rain in the northern areas of the Merrimack valley. Cooler air will filter in after this system but it will take a while and it will not brutal cold. Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 40s to low 50s, not as warm as today but still warmer than it has been. Highs will be back in the mid 30s to low 40s thursday and friday with an area of low pressure moving in for the weekend. The duration and the amount of precipitation is still to be determined. This storm does look like a sloppy storm with snow, sleet and rain involved. cooler temps will follow to start out the week. Ski areas in the north could be looking at another snow storm.
