storm to allow record cold temps into the region might help or destroy a nor easter late next week.

A quick moving system will move into the region from the southwest . This storm will tracke right over cape cod and southeast massachusetts dumping .5 to 1.5 inches of rain across the region with the most being south of the mass pike. Around northeast mass there will be about .5 to .75 inches. Rain will develope in the mid afternoon and will over spread the region by evening coming down heivy in the mid to late evening hours. At the tail end of the precipitation cold air will try and start to work its way in and change the rain over to a mix of sleet and snow. mainy along the rt 2 corridor and the berkshires. up into southern new hamphire and vermont.  As the strom pulls out cold air will filter in though the coldest air will not arrive till monday night. highs on monday will be in the morningwith temperatures in the lower 30s dropping into the middle 20s in the afternoon.  Monday night and tuesday will be mainly clear with highs in the  upper 10s to lower 20s with lows in the low 10s and upper single didits. New years eve will be very cold as lows will be in the single digits for many. with mainly clear skies. New years day will be sunny with highs in the upper 10s.

This is where it starts to get interesting. Weather models have been hinting at a storm but  a front will likly try to move through tring to reinforce the artic air. This could either help or kill the chance of a nor easter. Depending on the exact timing of the of the front. if the front is to fast the front will keep this system well out to sea and have it effect the mid atlantic. If the front slows down  or stalls off the coast this would lead to a major northeast winter storm.  More on this as it gets closer. The weather models are going to continue to have trouble this winter. Even if we do not have a snow storm we could still see snow showers because of the artic front.
